Terms of Service
Plain English. Sign up, eat, earn points, redeem rewards. Here are the rules.
Who we are
This rewards app is operated by Mexicano Grille Software LLC, a Texas limited liability company. We refer to ourselves as “we,” “us,” or “the operator” in these terms. The app is currently in pilot at three of the family's restaurant locations (operated under DBA “Taqueria El Mexicano Grille & Bar” by separate Texas LLCs owned by individual family branches).
Your account
Your phone number is your account. There's no password, no email. Anyone with access to your phone (and the texts we send to it) can sign in. If you switch to a new number and the carrier reassigns your old number to someone else, that someone else can sign into your account by receiving the new SMS code. If you change phone numbers, email us and we'll move your balance over.
How earning points works
After you eat, scan the QR code on the sign at the register. Type the check number and the total from your receipt. We credit points to your account based on this formula:
- 1 point per dollar spent (post-tax total, rounded down). $11.99 = 11 points.
- 2 points per dollar before 11 AM local time. Same $11.99 = 22 points if you scan before 11.
- $1,000 cap per claim (fraud safety; real checks are well under this).
- Each receipt can only be claimed once. If two people try to claim the same check number, only the first one through wins.
Points are tied to your phone number. They are not transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be sold or exchanged outside this app. They do not expire as long as your account is active.
How redeeming works
Browse the catalog at /rewards. Tap Redeem on a reward you can afford. We show you a QR code and a 6-digit code on your phone screen. Walk to the register, show your screen to a manager, and they scan the QR (or type the 6 digits) on the register tablet. The reward is committed and your balance updates immediately. You'll get a confirmation text.
- Up to 3 redemptions per customer per day, across all locations.
- One reward at a time. Need two free aguas? Redeem, confirm, redeem again.
- Redemption codes expire 1 hour after you tap Redeem. If you don't make it to the register in time, just tap Redeem again to get a fresh code.
- Points are deducted only when the manager confirms. If you change your mind and walk away, nothing happens.
Voids and mistakes
Managers can void a redemption within 5 minutes of confirming it (e.g. if the kitchen is out of an item, or you change your mind). When that happens, your points are restored and we send you a confirmation text so you know.
Fraud and abuse
We can suspend or close any account that's gaming the system — examples: claiming receipts you didn't pay for, sharing your phone with strangers to multiply redemptions, or coordinating with a manager to commit fraudulent redemptions. We don't expect this to come up with our regulars; family chain, family rules.
Changes to the program
We may add, remove, or reprice rewards; change the points formula; or retire the program. If we make a meaningful change (e.g. raising existing rewards' costs), we'll show a banner in the app and/or text affected customers in advance.
SMS terms
See the Privacy Policy for the SMS/TCPA section. Short version: by signing up you agree to transactional texts. Reply STOP to any of them to opt out. Marketing texts require a separate opt-in checkbox at signup. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Disclaimers
We do our best to keep the app running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. If the app is down when you visit a location, manager judgment applies — most of the time they'll just credit you on the next visit. We're not liable for indirect damages, lost time, or the emotional cost of a missed taco. Maximum liability if anything goes catastrophically wrong is the value of points in your account at the time, calculated at zero dollars (since points have no cash value).
Governing law
Texas law governs these terms. If a dispute can't be resolved by emailing us first, the appropriate venue is small-claims or state court in Bell County, Texas.
